Our Story
The story of Legends & Luxe is an ever-evolving one. It began in a yellow duplex, basically identical to others in the neighborhood of a retirement center in Florida. Our founder, Sara, (hi, that's me!) who was not at all near retirement age, found herself there nonetheless. I had finished work for a non-profit organization helping women begin their own businesses. As I contemplated my future, I realized the Universe had set up the next step in my journey perfectly. Using the same practices I utilized at the non-profit - helping women craft business plans and launch websites - I formed The Fanspired.

The Fanspired launched as an online fan shop in November 2018, offering both sports and pop
culture merch and collectibles. The vision was clear, bridge the "retail divide" between sports and
comic shops. Based on the belief that donning a jersey, tailgating, and attending a game wasn't
especially different from cosplaying at a comic convention, The Fanspired sought to connect the common threads of fandom from both worlds. Being a "one-stop shop for all your fandom needs" meant pop culture fans, sports fans, and fans of both could celebrate their fandoms together, in one place.
In the midst of the Covid pandemic, myself, my mother, my blind cat Kloe, and The Fanspired moved to my mother's hometown in Western Kentucky. There, The Fanspired expanded beyond the online realm into a Merchant's Mall, and ten months later, into a historic building in Downtown Murray.

Not even the beautiful exposed brick walls could contain the growth of The Fanspired though. Having become an authorized retailer of popular collectibles like Funko pops, The Fanspired went on the road, adding Comic Conventions to the brick and mortar location.
What began in hotel conference rooms at small, semi-local, one-day conventions grew to attending multi-day cons thousands of miles away. From San Antonio to Philadelphia, to Tampa Bay and Michigan, The Fanspired was finding a footing in the community of convention vendors, eventually attending sixteen different cons in 2024.
The Fanspired opened in historical Downtown Murray KY in Nov. 2021, offering both sports and pop culture merchandise and collectibles.
Traveling presented more opportunity for The Fanspired to evolve. Conventions with hundreds of vendors under the same roof, on the same floor, right next to each other meant
more competition for common items such as mugs, t-shirts, backpacks, and socks - the merch carried to cater toward the more "casual" fan looking for everyday gear, and often found readily available at the nearest mall. As a result, we looked for a market opening and found our niche. Few, if any, vendors offered the unique figures and statues we were routinely stocking. Little by little the fandom merch dwindled and was replaced by high-quality, not-readily-available collectibles only The Fanspired was offering at a con or in a small, Western Kentucky town.
As we leapt into 2025, inspired, full of hope, and excited for another year's slate of conventions mixed with the local support of our hometown shop, the Universe stepped in again. Only this time, instead of lighting the way, it slammed on the breaks. Chronic back pain stemming from a childhood accident and an untreated mental health issue combined to force our traveling entrepreneur to stay home, focus on the storefront, and more importantly, focus on my health and well-being.

Attendance at significantly fewer conventions led to another evolution of The Fanspired. Seeking a larger in-person audience for the brick and mortar shop, we moved The Fanspired about an hour away from it's four-year home in Downtown Murray to historical Downtown Paducah, KY. The bigger crowds for the storefront allowed us to increase the kinds of collectibles offered, adding action figures, plushies, and model kits. This expansion, along with a technological marketing problem, led to the final evolution of The Fanspired - the creation of Legends and Luxe.

By the time The Fanspired arrived in Paducah, it had officially become a premium collectibles shop. The fan merch geared to "Inspiring the Fan In You" was long gone, replaced by high-quality, limited edition statues by the top artists in the world and figures produced by the best companies in the industry. To someone who had visited the Fanspired in the early days at the Merchant's Mall or in Downtown Murray, the changes would be obvious. To Artificial Intelligence online, not so much. As AI increasingly overtook online searches and their results, we realized we had a problem. AI kept showing the Fanspired high on search lists as a shop offering trading cards. AI had not figured out while most, if not all, trading cards are collectibles, not all collectibles are trading cards. The numerous calls, disappointed visitors, and obvious lack of reaching the correct audience forced a re-evaluation of The Fanspired and it's marketing.
Thus Legends & Luxe Premium Collectibles emerged. It was time to say goodbye to the Fanspired and what it represented. Today, the focus of the shop is providing top-notch collectibles to collectors seeking the best pieces. Whether it's a $15 plushie or a $500 statue, if it comes from Legends and Luxe, it's high-quality, beautifully crafted, and designed with the collector in mind. While the re-brand may not solve the AI search problem like we hope, the new name best aligns with what we are today.
Legends and Luxe wants to make collecting quality pieces approachable for everyone. We take collecting seriously but strive to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. The positive spirit, inspired pieces, and fun atmosphere of The Fanspired remain. There's still a good chance a Disney song or Taylor Swift will play through the speakers when you visit.
